Suresh Dobhal, a renowned theater artist who laid the foundation of modern theater in Uttarakhand through 13 branches of Shailnat, has dedicated his life to theater after being trained at the National School of Drama and Film Institute Pune. He is now inspiring young filmmakers of Uttarakhand to advance with innovative ideas, helping Uttarakhand’s cinema carve its niche in national and international cinema.

Suresh Dobhal, who has worked with eminent Indian filmmakers like Prakash Jha and Jabbar Patel, is actively promoting quality cinema and theater in collaboration with the youth of Uttarakhand.

Following the success of Gadera, a film in multiple languages showcasing Uttarakhand’s essence, Suresh Dobhal takes on a pivotal role in Bhediya-Dhasan (Sheep Barn), a film inspired by true events. Directed by Bharat Parihar and written by Ramendra, this film is seen as a significant step towards innovation in Uttarakhand’s cinema.

The prestigious Kerala International Film Festival (December 13–20, 2024) has selected the film in its “Today’s Indian Cinema” section. The movie will have three screenings on December 14, 16, and 19 at various venues.

The film stars several experienced theater artists, including Suresh Dobhal, Yatendra Bahuguna, Mahesh Saini (all from NSD), and Madan Mehra and Dhruv Tata (both from BNA). The cinematography is by Parth Joshi, and sound design is by Ravi Kumar (Pune Film Institute).

At the Kerala Film Festival, Suresh Dobhal emphasized the need to support young filmmakers bringing fresh perspectives to Uttarakhand’s cinema. He urges everyone to watch the film upon its release and extend their encouragement.
