Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed the establishment of EV charging stations in shopping malls to enhance the infrastructure for electric vehicles. She also emphasized strict compliance with the scrap policy for vehicles across all departments.
The Chief Secretary instructed the development of green belts between cities, prioritizing the planting of bamboo in vacant spaces and traffic corridors instead of other plants. Additionally, under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), she directed the preparation of clean air action plans for Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Kashipur to control pollution.
To address urban waste management, the Chief Secretary:
- Directed the Urban Development Department to track waste-burning activities rigorously through municipal-level task forces.
- Instructed women’s self-help groups (Mahila Mangal Dals) to curb littering activities.
- Mandated 100% door-to-door waste collection, including in slum areas.
During the 4th State-Level Steering Committee meeting of the NCAP at the Secretariat, the Chief Secretary issued further directives:
- Implement an Integrated Traffic Management System at major junctions.
- Improve roads to control dust pollution.
She stressed that all departments must work seriously on concrete action plans to achieve the target of reducing pollutant levels by 40% by 2025-26.
