261 students associated with Sanskrit education honored in Uttarakhand

'Gargi Sanskrit Girls Scholarship Scheme' started in Uttarakhand

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Honors 261 Sanskrit Students in Dehradun

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored 261 students associated with Sanskrit education in a program organized by the Sanskrit Education Department at Mukhyasevak Sadan.

He awarded 24 meritorious students of Class 10 and 12 under the Sanskrit Student Talent Award 2024-25, with cash prizes of:

  • ₹5,100 for the first position,
  • ₹4,100 for the second position,
  • ₹3,100 for the third position.

Under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Scheduled Caste-Tribe Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme 2024-25, 148 students were honored.

Additionally, 89 female students received recognition under the Gargi Sanskrit Girls’ Scholarship Scheme 2024-25.

Government’s Commitment to Sanskrit Promotion

CM Dhami emphasized that the Uttarakhand government is continuously working towards the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit. Key initiatives include:

  • The launch of the “Gargi Sanskrit Girls’ Scholarship Scheme”, which provides an annual scholarship of ₹3,012 to female students in Sanskrit schools.
  • The “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Scheduled Caste & Tribe Scholarship Scheme”, offering ₹3,012 annually.
  • The “Sanskrit Student Talent Award Scheme”, which recognizes top-performing students in Sanskrit at the high school and intermediate levels.

He also announced that the government is working on developing “13 Sanskrit Villages” in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand.

Nationwide Promotion of Sanskrit

The Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Haridwar, is actively promoting Sanskrit through various national-level programs, including:

  • All India Research Conference
  • All India Astrology Conference
  • All India Vedic Conference
  • All India Poetry Conference
  • Sanskrit Education & Skill Development Workshops
  • Sanskrit Student Competitions

The government remains committed to expanding Sanskrit’s reach and ensuring its revival as a key part of India’s cultural heritage.
