Till now, IDs of more than 5.5 crore farmers have been created in the country, which also includes 78 lakh farmers of Madhya Pradesh

Vidisha, April 14, 2025:

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, launched the Farmer ID under the Digital Agriculture Mission on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. During the event, he highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government had initiated the Digital Agriculture Mission aimed at digitally empowering farmers, making them self-reliant and technology-enabled.

Chouhan appealed to farmers to create their Farmer ID to access all available schemes in one place. So far, over 5.5 crore farmers’ IDs have been created, including 78 lakh farmers from Madhya Pradesh.

Objective of the Digital Agriculture Mission:

The mission aims to provide digital identification to all farmers, allowing them to have their Farmer ID. This will compile all relevant information such as:

  • Land area

  • Family members

  • Crops grown

  • Soil health and Soil Health Cards

  • Information on livestock or other assets

Benefits of the Farmer ID:

According to Chouhan, the Farmer ID provides several advantages:

  • Farmers will no longer have to go through paperwork for different schemes. For example, in case of crop loss, the entire process will be simplified.

  • With a Farmer ID, obtaining loans from banks will be quicker and easier. Information regarding the type of crop and other details will be available instantly, facilitating the loan approval process.

  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will directly be transferred to farmers’ bank accounts, without needing any additional steps.

The Minister emphasized that this Farmer ID will ensure transparency and security. It will prevent misuse, such as land ownership discrepancies, and the details will be confidential unless the farmer chooses to share them.

He urged all farmers to take part in the campaign to create the Farmer ID, which will ensure that all relevant information is available in one place, providing farmers with easy access to government schemes and benefits.
