AIIMS Rishikesh ECHS Scheme for Ex-Servicemen

Rishikesh, 10 July 2025 – Retired soldiers of the Indian Army will now receive cashless medical treatment at AIIMS Rishikesh. This significant health scheme was officially launched on Thursday in the presence of senior officials from AIIMS and the Indian Army.

Under this initiative, ex-servicemen and their dependents in Uttarakhand will receive free treatment. AIIMS Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh, while inaugurating the scheme, stated that under ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme), veterans will get access to both indoor and outdoor super-specialty medical facilities at the hospital.


Key Highlights of the ECHS Scheme at AIIMS Rishikesh:

  • Cashless Treatment for retired armed forces personnel and their dependents.

  • Coverage includes OPD and IPD (indoor and outdoor services) under super-specialty care.

  • A special ECHS counter has been set up next to the OPD counter at AIIMS for registration and information.

  • Treatment entitlement will be based on the rank of the ex-serviceman.

General Officer Gill, representing the Indian Army, thanked Prof. Meenu Singh and the AIIMS Rishikesh administration for extending medical services to veterans. He highlighted that over 4.5 lakh ex-servicemen and Veer Naris (war widows) reside in Uttarakhand, all of whom will benefit from this scheme.

Dr. Mohit Dhingra, the nodal officer for the scheme, provided details about rank-based eligibility and the convenience of the newly established counter for veteran support.
