Chardham Yatra 2025: Health Secretary took stock of the preparations in Chamoli
Focus on roads, health centres and disaster management, safety of devotees is the first priority

Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2025 in Uttarakhand are in full swing. On Tuesday, April 8, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar visited Chamoli district to inspect the yatra route. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, senior officials have been deployed to oversee the preparations.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar visited the registration center at Gauchar, the Primary Health Center (PHC) at Mela Maidan, and the Trauma Center in Karnaprayag. He directed officials to ensure the availability of medicines, doctors, and medical staff along the route. Dialysis machines will soon be made available in Chamoli as well. He advised that if any equipment or facility is required, the respective departments must send proposals to the government in a timely manner so that resources can be arranged accordingly.
20 Medical Relief Posts and 50 Screening Centers to Be Set Up
The Health Secretary announced that 20 Medical Relief Posts (MRPs) and 50 screening centers will be established along the yatra route. He instructed that health advisories in 13 different languages be compulsorily distributed through these MRPs and screening centers.
The health advisory will inform pilgrims about altitude-related health risks, potential illnesses like COVID-19, dietary guidelines, and necessary precautions. Screening centers will be set up near bus stations.
Inspection of Sirobagad and Kameda Landslide Zones
Dr. Rajesh Kumar also inspected Sirobagad and Kameda landslide zones. He set a 20-day deadline for sending a proposal to the government for road repair work in Kameda. He also instructed officials to urgently submit a proposal for a permanent solution to the Sirobagad sliding zone issue. Executing agencies were warned against negligence.
At the Pagal Nala landslide area on NH-07, he reviewed the situation in detail and instructed the concerned agency to prepare a strategic plan for a permanent solution and submit it to the government. In Jogidhara, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was directed to strengthen the road base and complete repair work on priority.
