Under the auspices of the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS, Rishikesh, a free cataract surgery and Eye Awareness Week will be organized starting Thursday, December 26, 2024.
Professor Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS, informed that during this Eye Awareness Week, which will continue until December 31, intensive eye examinations will be conducted, and cataract patients will undergo artificial lens implantation.
Dr. Mittal further stated that patients participating in the Eye Awareness Week and those suffering from cataracts must register at the Ophthalmology Department’s OPD on Level 3 (third floor) of AIIMS Hospital between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM (except Sundays) to ensure timely examination and treatment.
The week-long cataract surgery initiative was officially inaugurated by the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh, during a program held at Raj Bhavan Auditorium, Dehradun, last Tuesday. The event saw participation from AIIMS Executive Director Professor Dr. Meenu Singh, along with Professor Dr. Sanjeev Mittal and a team of departmental doctors from the Ophthalmology Department.
