Uttarakhand Students to Receive School Supply Funds via DBT by September 30

Dehradun, June 27, 2025: Students of government schools in Uttarakhand will no longer have to wait for school uniforms, bags, and shoes. School Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has directed that the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for these items be completed by September 30, directly into students’ bank accounts.


Key Highlights:

  • DBT Deadline: Funds for school uniforms, bags, and shoes to be transferred via DBT by September 30.

  • Book Purchase Committees: Each school will set up a committee including the principal, retired teachers, village heads, and parent association presidents to select student-oriented books.

  • PM-SHRI Schools: The central government has approved 15 new PM-SHRI schools in Uttarakhand; construction to begin soon.

  • Expansion of Digital Education: Hybrid (virtual and smart) classrooms established in 800 schools, with work underway in 40 more.


Strict Action Against Delays

In a review meeting at the Samagra Shiksha Auditorium, Dr. Rawat expressed strong displeasure over delays in disbursing uniform funds. He warned officials that such negligence will not be tolerated in the future.


School Committees for Library Book Selection

Addressing concerns about irregularities in library book purchases, Dr. Rawat directed all schools to form a book selection committee. This committee will ensure that only useful, student-focused books are recommended and purchased, to promote quality education.


Focus on Samagra Shiksha and Digital Learning

The minister also reviewed the financial progress of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, urging timely budget utilization and expedited construction of PM-SHRI schools, cluster schools, ICT labs, and virtual learning labs.

Officials shared that:

  • 15 new PM-SHRI schools have been approved.

  • 800 schools already have hybrid learning setups.

  • 40 more are nearing completion.

  • Proposals worth ₹172 lakh for smart classrooms in 72 schools and ₹517 lakh for ICT labs in 124 schools have been sent to the central government for approval.
