   Glacier Collapse in Mana Near Badrinath: Army Rescues Trapped Workers Amid Extreme Conditions

Amid heavy snowfall and rainfall in Uttarakhand, the feared disaster has occurred. A glacier collapse in Mana, near Shri Badrinath Dham, trapped 55 workers under the snow. So far, 47 people have been successfully rescued.

Following this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Jyotirmath today. He reviewed the rescue operation and met the injured victims affected by the avalanche. He also received a briefing from the District Magistrate regarding the rescue efforts. At 11 AM, the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the incident site.

CM Dhami stated that out of the 55 trapped individuals, 47 have been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining 8. Those rescued are being brought to Joshimath for medical treatment. The Chief Minister assured that the injured will receive all necessary assistance.

During his visit to the Army Hospital, the CM met the injured workers and inquired about their well-being. He directed the District Magistrate to ensure that there are no shortages of necessary resources for the search and rescue operation and that all requirements are identified in a timely manner.

District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari informed the Chief Minister that the avalanche occurred near Mana Pass around 6 AM yesterday. At the time, 57 workers of the Border

Roads Organization (BRO) were residing in containers, out of which 2 were on leave. Out of the 55 present, ITBP and the Army swiftly carried out rescue operations and have so far rescued 47 people safely.

The central and state governments have deployed four helicopters to assist in the rescue. Using these helicopters, 25 workers have been transported to Jyotirmath so far, with four of them sustaining serious injuries. These injured individuals are receiving treatment under the supervision of senior doctors at the Army Hospital.

Additionally, the District Magistrate confirmed that both central and state governments are providing full support. He praised the ITBP and Army for their prompt rescue efforts. A 28-member NDRF team has also arrived at the site, bringing valuable experience to the mission. Given the pace of the rescue operation, the remaining workers are expected to be rescued soon.
