Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat raised serious issues related to trucks filled with illegal mining materials and the safety of the public on roads in the Lok Sabha. Through the Lok Sabha Speaker, he urged the central government to form a special task force to monitor vehicles speeding on the roads carrying illegally mined materials.
MP Trivendra Singh Rawat also demanded strict action against the truck owners involved in transporting illegal mining materials. This is the second time Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat has raised the issue of illegal mining in the Lok Sabha, specifically in Haridwar and across the state.
Former Chief Minister and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat mentioned that at night, illegal mining trucks operate in districts like Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. This poses a serious threat to the rule of law and environmental safety, and it is also severely impacting the safety of the general public.
It has been observed that despite clear instructions from the state government and administration, mining mafias continue to operate these trucks at night without any hindrance. These trucks are heavily overloaded, and minerals are transported without any valid permits. Due to these illegal activities, the state’s road and bridge infrastructure is being severely damaged, making travel difficult for common citizens.
The most concerning aspect is that due to negligence and speeding, road accidents are increasing. Many innocent lives have been lost, and several others have been injured. The disregard for traffic rules and driving under the influence of alcohol by truck drivers, along with the complicity of local administration, is making the situation even more dangerous.
Through the Speaker, he emphasized that the central government must immediately pay attention to this serious problem and ensure effective action. Trivendra Singh Rawat suggested that a special task force should be formed to curb illegal mining activities. He called for a ban on mining vehicles at night and strict surveillance to be enforced.
He also proposed that checkpoints be set up on all major routes to prevent overloading and that harsh penalties be imposed on guilty truck owners. The responsibility of the involved officials should be fixed, and stringent disciplinary actions should be taken against those showing negligence.
