Historic Decline in Unemployment Rate in Uttarakhand

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed students from across the state at the concluding event of the fourth edition of the “Oho Hill Yatra – From Silver to Gold” held at the Mukhyasevak Sadan on April 10, 2025.

Key Highlights from the Chief Minister’s Address:

  • Uttarakhand has achieved a record 4.4% drop in its unemployment rate, surpassing the national average.

  • The ‘One District, Two Products’ scheme is generating local livelihood opportunities.

  • The ‘House of Himalayas’ brand is giving traditional products a wider national and international identity.

  • Initiatives like the State Millet Mission, Farm Machinery Bank, Apple Mission, New Tourism Policy, New Film Policy, Homestay Scheme, Wed in Uttarakhand, and Solar Self-Employment Scheme are strengthening the local economy.

  • Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state is witnessing rapid development in education, healthcare, roads, sports, drinking water, and air connectivity infrastructure.

  • The Adi Kailash and Winter Pilgrimage are gaining momentum due to encouragement from the Prime Minister.

  • The Nanda Devi Yatra in 2026 and the Grand Kumbh Mela in 2027 are major upcoming responsibilities for the state government.

  • To promote startups and innovation, the state has established incubation centers.

  • A venture fund of ₹200 crore has been created to support startups.

  • The government’s vision is to transform youth from job seekers to job creators.

The event was also attended by DG Information Bansidhar Tiwari, SOA Director Ravi Bhatnagar, and students, parents, and teachers from across the state.
