At Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Medical College’s Base Teaching Hospital in Srinagar, blood samples of patients visiting the OPD can now be collected until 2:30 PM instead of 1:00 PM.
Earlier, patient samples were collected only until 1:00 PM, causing difficulties for those traveling from distant areas.
Following the instructions of the State’s Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the department heads concerned have extended the blood sample collection timing to benefit the patients.
Dr. Ajay Vikram Singh, the Medical Superintendent of the Base Hospital, stated that the Principal has issued orders to extend the sample collection time as per the minister’s directions.
A meeting was held with the heads of the Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Pathology departments of the medical college. After gaining consensus from all three departments, the blood sample collection timing has been extended.
He mentioned that blood samples for tests prescribed by doctors in the OPD can now be collected until 2:30 PM. Patients coming from distant areas will no longer have to wait until the next day.
The Medical Superintendent added that a circular has been issued to all departments in this regard.
