North India’s famous Maa Purnagiri fair started in Champawat district of Uttarakhand

The famous Maa Purnagiri Mela – 2025 of North India began on Saturday in Thuligad, Tanakpur (Champawat). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the fair, offering prayers to Maa Purnagiri and wishing for prosperity, progress, and peace in the state.

CM’s Directives & Announcements

The Chief Minister announced several development projects for the Purnagiri Mela region, including:

  • Smart Control Room & CCTV Surveillance System at Thuligad for crowd and disaster management.
  • Multi-purpose Administrative Building at Selagad to accommodate Mela Magistrate, officials, police, and medical teams.
  • Purnagiri Pumping Drinking Water Scheme at Ladigad.
  • Thuligad and Babligad Pumping Project for improved water supply in the Purnagiri area.

He stated that these initiatives will enhance the development of the region.

Maa Purnagiri Dham: A Major Spiritual & Tourism Hub

The state government is committed to developing Maa Purnagiri Dham into a major spiritual and tourism center. The number of multi-level parking facilities in Champawat has been increased from 11 to 13 to ease traffic congestion.

A new ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) is being developed in Tanakpur at a cost of ₹200 crore. Under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, major temples in Kumaon will be beautified, and roads leading to them will be widened for the convenience of devotees.

Ropeway Construction in Maa Purnagiri Dham

To enhance connectivity, ropeway construction is underway at Maa Purnagiri Dham, ensuring a smoother pilgrimage experience. A special tourism circuit is being developed to link Purnagiri Dham with other major religious and tourist destinations in the region.

Development Projects in Champawat

The CM also announced various development projects for Champawat, including:

  • ₹55 crore Science Center to promote knowledge, science, and innovation among students.
  • Women’s Sports College under construction.
  • New Polytechnic College Building completed at a cost of ₹16 crore.
  • Critical Care Block with 50 beds at District Hospital (₹20 crore).
  • Ayush Hospital in Tanakpur (₹15 crore, 50 beds).
  • Integrated Nursing Institute building completed at a cost of ₹28 crore.

These initiatives aim to boost education, healthcare, and tourism in the region.
