A team of 26 farmers from Uttarakhand will visit Karnataka and Maharashtra

Farmers will deeply study cooperative, horticulture, fishery, dairy, multipurpose cooperative societies

A group of 26 outstanding farmers selected from the 13 districts of Uttarakhand will depart on March 4 for a study tour to the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat will flag off the group from Dehradun.

During the study tour of these two states, the farmers will explore cooperative, horticulture, fisheries, dairy, and multipurpose cooperative societies. After the tour, all the farmers will act as master trainers in their respective districts by organizing workshops to train other farmers.

State Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat informed that last year, the Cooperation Department sent 26 farmers from the state on a study tour to Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. This year as well, the department is sending farmers to Karnataka and Maharashtra.

He added that the goal of the state government is to enable farmers to learn about horticulture, dairy, fisheries, and other cooperative activities from other states and raise awareness among local farmers through workshops and other means. This initiative aims to increase the income of farmers in the state.

Managing Director of the State Cooperative Union, Neeraj Belwal, informed that the group of farmers will travel by road from Dehradun to Delhi and then fly from Delhi Airport to Karnataka and Maharashtra.

In Karnataka, the group will visit Bengaluru Milk Union, Horticulture Cooperative Marketing Society, Hoskote Fishery Cooperative Society, Shri Venkateshwara Poultry Society, and Bengaluru Cooperative Society.
In Maharashtra, they will visit Aditya Fishery Cooperative Society, National Institute of Cooperative Management, Pune, and Sant Tukaram Cooperative Sugar Factory for study tours.
