Ayushman Yojana: Uttarakhand Health Minister Appeals to Affluent Citizens to Voluntarily Relinquish Scheme Benefits
Dehradun, June 11, 2025:
Uttarakhand’s Health Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, has appealed to the wealthy and capable individuals in the state to voluntarily surrender their Ayushman Yojana cards, if they so wish, so that the benefits of the scheme can reach those who truly need it the most.
Reason and Impact of the Appeal
More Benefits to the Needy:
Dr. Rawat stated that if the affluent voluntarily withdraw from the scheme, other underprivileged individuals can receive better treatment in their place. He emphasized that there are thousands of families in the state who can easily afford treatment in private hospitals.
Reduced Financial Burden:
This initiative may also help reduce the financial load on the scheme.
The minister has directed all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to hold discussions at the district level with the elite class of their respective areas to deliberate on this proposal.
