Health sector boost in Uttarakhand, cancer treatment can be done in district hospitals

Regarding the announcements for the health sector in the Union Budget, the state’s Health and Medical Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, stated that these provisions would significantly benefit Uttarakhand’s healthcare sector.
Dr. Rawat mentioned that the state government had already been focusing on medical tourism, and now the Union Budget includes provisions to promote it, which will further strengthen the state’s initiatives.
He highlighted that the budget includes provisions for setting up daycare cancer centers in all district hospitals, ensuring that cancer patients receive treatment at district-level facilities.
Additionally, the budget includes initiatives such as cervical cancer vaccination for girls aged 9 to 14, health coverage under Ayushman Bharat for ASHA and Anganwadi workers, a digital platform for vaccination, price reductions on 36 essential medicines for patients suffering from cancer and other diseases, and provisions for affordable medical equipment.
Furthermore, the budget also aims to provide broadband connectivity in primary health centers and increase the number of seats in medical colleges and hospitals by 75,000 over the next five years, with 10,000 additional seats to be added next year.
Dr. Rawat stated that departmental officials have been instructed to prepare proposals aligned with the Union Budget to further strengthen the state’s healthcare facilities.
