Dehradun, 23 June 2025 – In a review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, preparations for Kanwar Mela 2025 were thoroughly discussed. The Chief Secretary instructed all departments and executing agencies to complete all preparations for the fair on time.
He made it clear that strict action will be taken against those who disrupt the orderly conduct of the Mela – including individuals under the influence of alcohol, unruly elements, or those promoting violence. Additionally, large DJ sound systems will be prohibited during the Mela.

The Chief Secretary warned that any negligence in cleanliness, water supply, or parking will result in strict action against the responsible department or agency. He directed timely coordination meetings with all executing bodies to issue necessary guidelines. The Irrigation Department was instructed to ensure cleanliness and safety at all bathing ghats and bridges.
Haridwar Preparations
In the meeting, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police, Haridwar, presented a detailed plan for the successful management of the Kanwar Mela. This included:
