Teachers Transfers and Promotions: Govt to Ensure Timely Action
Dehradun, June 13, 2025: Uttarakhand’s School Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, announced that teachers will soon benefit from annual transfers and promotions. He has instructed departmental officials to complete all necessary formalities related to this process without delay. Additionally, he directed that promotion cases of teachers be resolved at the departmental level as a priority.
Dr. Rawat emphasized the government’s seriousness on the issues of teacher promotions and transfers, stating that it is committed to ensuring that all eligible teachers receive their promotions promptly. A high-level meeting was recently held under his chairmanship, attended by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretary (Law), Secretary (Personnel), Secretary (Finance), and other senior officials of the department.

Officials were specifically directed to prioritize promotions:

From Assistant Teacher (LT) to Lecturer

From Assistant Teacher (LT)/Lecturer to Headmaster

Officials were instructed to seek appropriate consultation from the Law and Personnel Departments and submit justified responses to the competent forum where required.

The minister also instructed preparation of a comprehensive list of all eligible teachers for promotion.

Dr. Rawat further stated that annual transfers were also discussed in detail.

Departmental officers were asked to vigorously represent the case of school categorization (kotikaran) in the High Court.

They were also directed to prepare transfer lists for eligible teachers under various categories as part of the annual transfer process.
