There are vast opportunities for investment in rapidly developing Uttarakhand: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference in Dehradun. Addressing Uttarakhand migrants living in various countries, CM Dhami highlighted the vast investment opportunities in the rapidly developing Uttarakhand.

He mentioned that there is immense potential for investment in adventure tourism, power generation, aromatic products, manufacturing, agriculture, horticulture, herbal medicine, AYUSH, and wellness sectors. The state has implemented significant reforms at both policy and structural levels to establish itself as an investment destination. Rules have been amended to facilitate ease of doing business. Strict legal provisions have been introduced to ensure a crime-free and fear-free society.

The state has developed better infrastructure for roads, railways, airports, ropeways, and communication networks, making it a safe, convenient, and attractive investment hub. Rankings by NITI Aayog and other national and international rating agencies affirm this progress.

The Chief Minister urged the migrants to adopt a village or town in their homeland to address the pressing issue of migration from Uttarakhand. He emphasized the importance of their expertise, experience, and technical knowledge in realizing the state’s aspirations.

He further stated that a dedicated migrant cell has been formed to ensure better coordination and support for migrants. Plans for a venture fund will also be introduced soon.

The Chief Minister remarked that the year 2025 would be a milestone in Uttarakhand’s history as the state celebrates its silver jubilee. The state is ready to host the National Games starting January 28. Additionally, the Uniform Civil Code law will be implemented this month. Winter tourism, recently launched, is expected to be a game-changer for the state’s economy.

Migrants shared their experiences, recalling their childhood memories of Uttarakhand’s trails and the transformation they have witnessed over the years. They noted that while they once sought opportunities abroad, the changing Uttarakhand now offers ample opportunities for youth, having established new benchmarks in various fields of development.

Prominent migrants like Girish Pant, Anita Sharma, Dev Raturi, Vinod Jethudi, A.K. Kala, and Shailesh Upreti praised the initiative of the International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference. They expressed gratitude to CM Dhami and the Uttarakhand government for providing them with an opportunity to reconnect with their roots and contribute to their homeland. They proposed adopting villages or supporting underprivileged children as a means of addressing migration issues.

Several migrants delivered speeches in their native language, reflecting their deep connection to their homeland.

The Chief Minister honored migrants who contributed to Uttarakhand’s development and adopted villages, including Girish Pant, Anita Sharma, Dev Raturi, Vinod Jethudi, A.K. Kala, and Shailesh Upreti.

CM Dhami also visited an exhibition of products sold under the “House of Himalayas Uttarakhand Brand” by various women’s self-help groups.

The conference was attended by Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Deepam Seth, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, former DGP Anil Raturi, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Vinod Kumar Suman, Deependra Chaudhary, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, and DG Information Banshidhar Tiwari, along with other dignitaries.
