Uttarakhand: Employment fair on March 23 for students studying in government schools

Students are getting vocational education in 559 schools of the state, 600 have registered

For the first time in Uttarakhand, a job fair will be organized under the Samagra Shiksha initiative on March 23. Several national and multinational companies will participate in the fair, providing better employment opportunities to students pursuing vocational education in 559 government secondary schools across the state.

Job Fair Details

Kuldeep Gairola, Additional State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, stated that the job fair will be held on March 23 at Hindu National Inter College, Dehradun. Students receiving vocational education in government secondary schools will get job placement opportunities through this event. Over 600 students have already registered for the job fair.

Companies Participating in the Job Fair

Several renowned industrial and corporate firms will be part of this job fair, including:

  • Ashok Leyland
  • Hero MotoCorp
  • VLCC
  • Patanjali
  • Jubilant
  • Green Call
  • Northstar
  • Reliance Retail
  • Sodexo
  • Jena Resort
  • Schneider Electric

These companies will provide diverse employment opportunities for skilled youth. The initiative aims to connect students with vocational education and train them according to industry requirements, making them self-reliant.

Vocational Education Courses

Kuldeep Gairola further explained that, under the provisions of National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020), vocational education is being provided in 559 government secondary schools from grades 9 to 12. The courses include:

  • Agriculture
  • Automotive
  • IT
  • Plumbing
  • Retail
  • Tourism & Hospitality
  • Beauty & Wellness
  • Electronics & Hardware

Approximately 42,000 students are benefiting from these courses. He also mentioned that the first batch of Class 12 vocational education students has appeared for the Uttarakhand Board Examination in the current academic session.
