Dehradun, January 22, 2025

In the National Rangshala Camp held in New Delhi, artists from various states and ministries showcased cultural programs and dances reflecting their respective regional cultures. Among the best three states, Uttarakhand secured second place in the competition.

K.S. Chauhan, Joint Director of the Uttarakhand Information Department and team leader, stated that artists from across the country participate in the Republic Day Parade. The Government of India organizes a cultural program competition at the National Rangshala Camp, New Delhi, where each team is given only 3 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.

The teams present cultural programs based on their folk traditions within the stipulated time. Uttarakhand’s artists performed the famous Jagar singing and folk dance Chhopeli, which was selected for an award by the committee constituted by the Government of India.

The committee greatly appreciated the glimpse of Uttarakhand’s folk culture showcased in the Jagar singing and Chhopeli dance, earning the state this prestigious award.

After winning this award, the state’s artists will now perform cultural programs at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Prime Minister’s residence, as well as in front of the Vice President, Defense Minister, and Tribal Minister after January 26.

During this year’s Republic Day Parade, Uttarakhand will present a tableau on the theme of “Cultural Heritage and Adventure Sports” on Kartavya Path.
