State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar held a press conference on Monday at the State Election Commission headquarters regarding the general elections for urban local bodies in 2024. The State Election Commissioner announced the schedule for the general elections for 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils, and 46 town councils in Uttarakhand.
The State Election Commissioner stated that nomination papers can be submitted from December 27, 2024, and the last date for submission is December 30, 2024.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025.
The date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been set as January 2, 2025.
Election symbols will be allotted on January 3, 2025.
Voting will take place on January 23, 2025, and the counting of votes will be held on January 25, 2025.
The State Election Commissioner also informed that the total number of women voters in the state is 14,93,519, while the number of male voters is 15,89,467. The total number of other voters is 514, making the total number of voters 30,83,500.
He further stated that there are a total of 601 sensitive polling stations and 1,292 polling locations in the state. The total number of highly sensitive polling stations is 422, with 1,078 polling locations. The number of sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations may vary.
