Chardham Yatra Health Facilities 2025
Dehradun, May 5, 2025:
To ensure a safe and healthy Char Dham Yatra 2025, the Uttarakhand government has implemented extensive healthcare arrangements. Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat informed that 49 permanent and 20 temporary medical units have been set up along the yatra routes, at major halts, and across the four Dhams. A total of 567 doctors, including 31 specialists (physicians, surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and gynecologists), have been deployed. Additionally, over 800 paramedical staff are on duty.
The Government of India has dispatched the first batch of 13 specialist doctors from AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and JIPMER Puducherry, who will serve in medical units located in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag districts.
To strengthen screening and monitoring, 57 health screening kiosks have been installed at locations including Haridwar (2), transit camps (2), Vikasnagar (2), and Kaliyasaur (1, Pauri), along with 50 digital tablets for health surveillance.
Air Ambulance & Awareness: Pilgrim Safety as Top Priority
Dr. Rawat further stated that 47 additional specialist doctors (24 physicians and 23 orthopedic specialists) and specialists from five private medical colleges will be deployed soon. AIIMS Rishikesh is providing air ambulance services to ensure immediate medical aid during emergencies.
The health department has also raised awareness among hotel owners, tent operators, lodge managers, and mule operators by informing them about the nearest medical units. Digital tablets have been installed at high-traffic screening points to integrate health monitoring systems.
Dr. Rawat expressed gratitude to the central government for sending the specialist medical team following his visit to Delhi. These healthcare efforts are not only ensuring the safety of pilgrims in Uttarakhand but are also boosting the local economy through initiatives like the Kedarnath Yatra.
