The Parvadoon District Congress staged a protest at the Doiwala Tehsil against the closure of the main entrance of the Doiwala railway station and submitted a memorandum to the Railway Minister through the Doiwala Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
Parvadoon Congress District President Mohit Uniyal said that under Northern Railway, the railway management has closed the main entrance of the Doiwala railway station in Dehradun district for four-wheeler vehicles. This has caused inconvenience to the residents, traders, and all passengers traveling via the railway station.
Due to the closure of the main entrance, four-wheelers are unable to enter the railway station premises. As a result, passengers are facing difficulties in carrying heavy luggage to the station. Elderly passengers, differently-abled individuals, and patients are experiencing significant inconvenience.
Doiwala Municipal Councilor Gaurav Malhotra stated that vehicles dropping off passengers at the Doiwala railway station are forced to park on the Railway Road market. This is leading to frequent traffic congestion, creating problems for local residents and traders.
Parvadoon Congress District Secretary Varun Gupta expressed concern, stating that in case of an emergency, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles would not be able to access the railway station premises. This poses a serious risk.
He also highlighted that two government schools are located right in front of the Doiwala railway station, where a large number of students study. These students have to cross the railway tracks to reach their schools, increasing the risk of accidents. Despite repeated demands for a railway overbridge at the station, no action has been taken so far.
He urged the Railway Minister to direct the Northern Railway management to reopen the main entrance of the Doiwala railway station for four-wheeler vehicles. Additionally, he demanded the construction of a railway overbridge in the interest of Doiwala’s residents and students. The people of Doiwala will be compelled to launch an agitation if these demands are not met.
Prominent attendees at the protest included Parvadoon Congress District President Mohit Uniyal, Councilor Gaurav Malhotra, Congress District General Secretary Rahul Saini, Afsana Ansari, Varun Gupta, Youth Congress Assembly President Sawan Rathore, Arif Ali, Swatantra Bisht, Councilor Representative Amit Saini, Moin Khan, Kapil Arora, Harshit Uniyal, Khurshida, and others.
