Uttarakhand: CM Dhami flagged off 9 mobile science labs
Lab on Wheels: A new step in science education for rural students
Dehradun, April 08, 2025
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off 9 Mobile Science Labs from his camp office in Dehradun on April 8, 2025. These “Science Labs on Wheels” will provide hands-on science education in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics to students from Class 6 to 10 in government schools across Uttarakhand.
The CM personally reviewed various science models onboard and hailed the initiative as a revolution in education, especially in making practical science accessible in rural and remote areas.
Last year, 4 mobile labs were launched in Champawat, Almora, Dehradun, and Pauri. Following their successful outcomes, this second phase will extend the initiative to 9 additional districts:
Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh.
Professor Durgesh Pant, Director General of Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), stated that the project is aimed at making science more approachable and engaging in rural and far-flung schools. Equipped with labs, models, and demonstrations, these mobile labs help students better understand their syllabus through interactive learning.
